Tidal Energy requires a consistent windy geographical environment and Solar Energy which require consistent brights day-lights. Hence, that's the complication, these mainstream alternative energies require a consistent nature environment that can't be controlled by humans.

And now, Brandon Sorbom is working on alternative energy that also doesn't require burning carbon-based materials, and it is called Fusion Energy. This energy is a virtually unlimited resource that can generate in any weather condition. Fusion Energy is generated by the process by which two atoms slam into each other and fuse into one heavier atom (this process is exactly what powers the sun).

We will look forward to such a centralized infrastructure that is safe in the middle of the city to power the across its kilometres of radius surrounding area. Besides, the process stills require "fuel" supply, the isotopes hydrogen for its inputs. So this makes it may not completely unlimited energy yet... but we'll see.
