The New Innovative Thin Solar Panel Sticker For Near Future

When I writing this discussion, I am currently working with the solar installer company for commercial and residential markets. Before I explain further the breakthrough innovation of the product 'Maxeon Air', I will touch a bit on the standard design of the solar panels that are still been marketed widely.

Conventionally, or the basic standard of the solar panel is usually 2 meters by 1 meter in size and around 28 kilograms in weight. The weight is only for the panel alone, and when installing panels on the roof there will be a mounting structure between the roof and the panels. A mounting structure is made of dense steel material which with panels already add up to a lot of weight onto the roof. But, don't worry because the roof tiles will be temporarily removed and the mounting structure will only be joined to the home top structure that holding the roof frame. Hence, this doesn't add pressure load to the roof itself.

However, other than the tile roof, there are other alternatives roof which is commonly used for modern-looking homes, they are called the metal-tech roof. They usually come in big pieces unlike the tiles roof, hence they are already been customized in the factory to fit the whole roof side as one piece of a metal roof. For this case, the mounting structure will be clamped to the roof instead of drilling the holes because this is to avoid leaking when in case of rain. This may add load to the metal roof and may make them dent slowly in the future from the downward of the panel and mounting structure weights. But still, this depends on the quality of the metal tech roof, usually homes installed with a bit expensive and high-quality metal roof.

Now, we have Maxeon Air the "sticker solar panel" and they are an innovation that improving on how solar panels should be. They are thin like a pencil and with the sticker, these new solar panels can be straight away applied to the roof without mounting structure in the between. I'm sure they are using the best quality adhesives for construction use (the adhesive can be in a wide range of temperatures).

These may be disruptive products that can greatly reduce the cost and make the entry price more appealing to the masses. Since the high price of the system with conventional solar panel usually scare off people to install the solar panels on their homes.

However, this technology limit to only for homes with tile and metal-tech roofs. Some homes have a flat concrete roof, but they are not common. Conventional solar panels are best suitable for this roof because the mounting structure will be designed to place the solar panel at a certain angle that is best to get direct sunlight.
